We hope that our website gives you a good idea of the supportive and stimulating environment we provide both the pupils and their parents at our school: from Pre-school through to Year 6. From the start, our pupils are encouraged to reach their full potential.
We are a small village school serving children and families from Little Somerford and Great Somerford as well as children from the surrounding villages and towns. Everything we do is focused on providing our pupils with the challenge and motivation to succeed.
Somerfords’ Walter Powell CofE Primary School is part of the Church of England family of schools. We believe it is important to promote core Christian values by which to live and which help to develop a moral and spiritual awareness.
We have an open-door policy for parents so that we constantly communicate with them to ensure that their children are happy and getting the most from the opportunities we offer.
Our school is a part of a three-school partnership with two other local schools: Christian Malford and Seagry CofE Primary schools. The three schools are led by our Executive Headteacher, Mrs Jane Thomas with Miss Lisa Shibley, who is the School Lead for Somerfords’ Walter Powell being responsible for the day-to-day running of the school.
Our Local Board and Diocese of Bristol Academies Trust are supportive and skilled and work closely with me to continue to grow our school. SHASA, our parent fundraising committee provide vital help with fundraising and social events. Together we form a strong team for our pupils through these important first years of their education.
It is impossible to include everything on our website so we hope that you will take the opportunity to come along to an Open Morning/Afternoon or call the office on 01249 720797 to arrange an appointment to visit.
