The Home & School Association exists to fundraise for additional equipment, facilities and activities that will enrich our children's experience at school. It also aims to promote a social and friendly family feeling between parents and school. Last year SHASA organised special snack times with different food from around the world and non-uniform days for charities such as the RUH Sick and Premature Baby Appeal and Lupus. We also provided refreshments at the Christmas play, put on a School Disco, contributed to coach travel for day and residential trips, and purchased netball kits and cookery equipment. Previously, we were really pleased to purchase a Timber Trail for the School Grounds. All this was funded by a variety of fundraising ventures: two Bag2School clothes recycling collections, a cake stall at Malmesbury Farmers Market, a raffle at the Christmas Play, Salsa night, Bring a book buy a book afternoon, a second-hand uniform sale and a decorate an Easter egg competition. This year we are planning a second hand uniform sale, Christmas Cafe, and Film Night, with more ideas in the pipeline. We hold regular meetings either in school during daytime or in our local pub in the evenings. Everyone is welcome to attend but if you can't come to the meetings we can send you the minutes by email - please contact SHASA@me.com. The Committee Sharon McQueen, Chair Meriel Griffiths, Treasurer Emma Thomas, Jo Freeman, Sarah Law. If you are interested in hearing more or joining the committee please speak to Sharon or email SHASA@me.com. New members are welcome but one-off help is also great. And don't forget if you're shopping online...
We are set up on two money-raising websites. If you're doing your
shopping, please either use www.easyfundraising.org.uk/findacause to access
or search for your preferred shopping website. Or use www.everyclick.com
which is a search engine (a bit like google) that gives us money for every
search we make.
It has already started to earn us money and it costs users
nothing. Just log on and make "Somerfords Walter Powell Home & School
Association" your charity of choice. It takes a bit of getting used to but please keep at it and help us add to school funds.
