School Governors
As we are a Federated school, our governing body is responsible for both Somerfords' Walter Powell CE Primary School and Seagry CE Primary School and draws representatives from both schools and both communities.
The governing body has a range of duties and powers and a general responsibility for the conduct of the school with a view to promoting high standards of educational achievement. Its responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- setting strategic direction, policies and objectives
- approving the school budget - reviewing progress against the school's budget and objectives - appointing, challenging and supporting the headteacher The Governing Body is made up of: Staff Governors, Parent Governors, Community Governors (elected by the Governing Body), Local Authority Governors (elected by the LEA), Foundation Governors (elected by the Bristol Dioscee of the CofE). The Chair of the Governors for 2011/12 is Kevin Pearce, the Vice Chair is Rachel Nuttall and the Clerk to the Governors is Samantha Forrest.
