Spring Term in Key Stage Two
Dear Parents
We hope that you find the following information about the spring term useful. This is a basic guide to our studies in the Key Stage Two Class.
Our main topic is: The Tudors
English
We will be studying: traditional stories, (fairy tales) writing explanations, information writing on The Tudors, poetry, historical fiction and argument and discussion writing.
Maths
We will be studying: place value, formal & informal methods of addition & subtraction, doubling & halving, mental strategies for multiplication & division, fractions, 2D shapes and angles, positive & negative numbers, percentages & ratio, capacity, data handling and word problems.
Science
This term we are studying materials and how to sort and classify them.
PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education)
Our themes for PHSE this term are getting on & falling out and understanding global communities
RE
Our focus this term is Judaism/ The Torah and Christianity/believing in God
ICT
We will be using ICT to support all our work throughout the curriculum. We will be focusing on creating texts, using the internet, monitoring information and handling information.
PE
Please make sure PE kits are in school at all time!
Our usual PE days are Monday then alternate Wednesdays or Thursdays. We will be doing dance, gym& games.
Art
For this term we are developing out painting & drawing skills through topic work.
Music
We are investigating Tudor music and beginning to practise for The Small Schools’ Music Festival in the summer.
Design & Technology
Our project this term will be based on designing so Tudor clothing
French
Mr. Mike Rowe will again teach French on alternate Tuesday afternoons.
Staffing
Miss Allen will be with us until half term and will be teaching the majority of the time, taking on Miss Shibley’s role. After half term Miss Shibley will teachY6/Y5/Y4 in the morning and all of KS2 in the afternoon.
Mrs. Hickling is teaching Y2/Y3 in the morning and supporting Miss Shibley in the afternoon. Mrs. Searle KS2 in the morning.
Homework and Targets
All children will have literacy & numeracy targets for this term to work on at home and school. Homework will be given out on Friday and will need to be in by the following Thursday. Spelling will be given out on Monday to be tested on the Friday of the same week.

Please remember to discuss any issues or worries as soon as possible. The best time to catch us is after school. Please note that we are unavailable on Monday nights due to staff meetings and of course any night we do a club.
