Enrichment Week

In June we had a break from our usual activities and had an Enrichment Week based on the theme of 'Ecological' |
Recycling

Wiltshire Wildlife Trust held workshops with the children. They made paper and pictures using old plastic bags and other 'rubbish'. They made a 'Bug Hotel' made from pallets and bricks and stuffed with twigs, leaves and anything else they could find.

Mark Everard joined us for pond dipping in our very own pond in the school grounds. He showed us a TV clip from BBC Springwatch where he and Daisy searched the River Avon for minnows, sticklebacks and other fish. We searched the school grounds to find as many species of plants and flowers as possible - the record was 50 ! Some of the flowers were pressed and some children made playground pictures using items found in the grounds. |

Out and About
We braved the weather and went for a very long walk in the morning with Mrs Nuttall joining us. We explored Great Somerford and followed the river almost to Little Somerford ! The children loved being outside.
We were then treated to our special 'Cook Live' lunch by Rob Ballard from Cygnet Foods and welcomed some parents for lunch too. We look forward to some more 'live cooking' in the future.

Sheep Day
We were very lucky to have 2 ewes and 2 sets of twin lambs in the school grounds for the day (in a pen of course !)
The children were able to go and see them through the day and in the afternoon a lady called Lisa came to show us how sheep's wool is spun. Some of the children had a go at spinning too.
Lydiard Park
On the final day, we took a risk with the weather and decided to go ahead with our planned trip to Lydiard Park joining up with our Federated School, Seagry Primary School. Luckily the rain held off and the children had great fun playing games, and spending time in the play area and on the adventure trail. They all enjoyed their picnic lunch and the only request was 'Please can we do this every Friday !'
